Job summary

Central Michigan University is seeking a Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling Postdoctoral Research Fellow to assess flood risk across Michigan using advanced hydrologic and hydraulic models. The role is part of the Building Predictive Capacity to Enhance Stormwater infrastructure and flood resilience project.

The ideal candidate has Ph.D. in a related field, experience with WRF-Hydro, SWMM, HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS, and scripting in Python or R.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Experience with hydrologic and/or hydraulic modeling required.
• Experience scripting with Python, R, or similar to create inputs and analyze outputs.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Experience writing scientific journal articles.

Responsibilities

• Assess flood risk in Michigan using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
• Work on the Building Predictive Capacity to Enhance Stormwater Infrastructure and Flood Resilience project.
• Engage with community partners and DOE PIER guidelines for mentorship as needed.
• Communicate results through technical reports and publications.
