Job summary

Woolpert seeks a Hydrographic Survey Specialist for its Port Orchard, WA office. The role involves planning and executing marine surveys, operating survey systems, and processing bathymetric data for diverse clients across the United States.

Ideal candidates will have a surveying/geomatics degree, marine-focused interest, and hands-on experience with Trimble GPS, LiDAR, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Travel and field work are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying/Geomatics or related field.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, curious, resourceful and flexible.
  • Interest in marine-focused work environment.
  • Experience using Trimble GPS hardware/software and data processing.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or CAD, MS Visio, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • LiDAR processing and 3D visualization experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute hydrographic and marine survey operations.
  • Mobilize, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot survey systems.
  • Acquire and process multibeam and single-beam bathymetric data.
  • Perform GNSS topographic surveys and terrestrial LiDAR processing.
  • Data processing in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools.

Woolpert is hiring a Hydrographic Survey Specialist to join our dynamic Hydrographic Survey team at our Port Orchard, WA office. The Hydrographic Survey team performs surveys for private and public agencies throughout the United States with offices in California, Washington, Alaska and Texas. Candidates should expect approximately 100 days of travel throughout each year. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

Field Tasks Include
  • Plan and execute hydrographic and marine survey operations.
  • Mobilize, integrate, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot hydrographic survey systems.
  • Acquire and process multibeam and single-beam bathymetric data.
  • Multibeam and Singlebeam Hydrographic Survey; Land Survey
  • GNSS Topographic Surveys
  • Terrestrial LiDAR Surveys
  • Survey Vessel Mobilization
  • GNSS & Optical Horizontal & Vertical Control Surveys
  • Candidates with small vessel and coastal waterways experience are preferred.
Office Tasks Include
  • Multibeam and Singlebeam Data Processing
  • GNSS Static Control Network Processing and Adjustment
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Mobile & Static Terrestrial LiDAR Survey Processing (same 3d laser scan)
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, environmental science, ocean engineering, geology, geography, spatial science, marine science or comparable field.
  • Self-motivated, quick learning, curious, resourceful, flexible individual with a common-sense approach to conducting business and workload management.
  • Interest and desire to work in a marine focused organization
  • Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
    • Experience using Global Mapper
    • Experience using marine software (QINSy, CARIS,EIVA Beamworks)
    • Experience gathering GPS data with Trimble GPS hardware and software and data processing
    • Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software, MS-Visio, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, InDesign).
    • Experience with LiDAR processingExperience with 3D visualization

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay Range

$65,800 - $82,300 USD
