Job summary

US Army Corps of Engineers in Wilmington, NC seeks a Small Craft Operator to operate and maintain 2–3 survey vessels (26–65 ft) and to conduct advanced hydrographic surveys in varied conditions, including shallow inlets. You will pilot vessels, transport personnel for surveys using single beam, side scan, and multibeam sonar, and perform related support duties on the vessel.

Responsibilities include safeguarding equipment, maintaining logs, and supporting mission needs with occasional weekend

Qualifications

• Requires a valid USCG Masters license for near coastal, steam or motor vessels.
• Ability to operate and maintain survey vessels 26–65 feet.
• Adherence to safety and regulatory standards including PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain 2–3 survey vessels (26–65 ft).
• Conduct hydrographic surveys using single beam, side scan and multibeam sonar.
• Transport survey personnel and assist with tours and maintenance tasks.
• Perform towing, debris removal, and other vessel operations.
• Maintain logs and safeguard vessel and equipment.
