Job summary

Ripple Effect Consulting LLC seeks a Hydraulic/Hydrology Engineer & Project Manager to lead public infrastructure and flood control projects throughout the Southwest from concept to completion. This role suits a licensed PE who enjoys technical modeling and project leadership while mentoring junior engineers.

The position emphasizes 1D/2D stormwater modeling (HEC-RAS, FLO-2D), FEMA permitting support, drainage design oversight with AutoCAD, and geospatial data management using ArcGIS/QGIS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Arizona PE registration preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • 5+ years of drainage, stormwater, or hydraulic/hydrologic engineering experience.
  • Experience with construction methods, specifications, and design implementation.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Phoenix-area drainage criteria and regulations is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze 1D and 2D stormwater models using HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, and FLO-2D.
  • Support FEMA permitting efforts and navigate local drainage and floodplain regulations.
  • Oversee drainage design and construction plan development utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Manage geospatial and mapping data using ArcGIS and QGIS.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to EITs and junior staff.
  • Conduct field investigations and prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Lead projects to successful completion while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Monitor project performance metrics and assist with resource planning and staffing.

The Opportunity
