Shape the Flow: H&H Engineer & Project Manager
Phoenix, Arizona | Full-Time | Salaried
The Opportunity
REC is seeking a Hydraulic/Hydrology Engineer & Project Manager to lead public infrastructure and flood control projects throughout the Southwest.
This role is ideal for a licensed PE who enjoys technical modeling, project leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and managing projects from concept through completion.
Technical Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze 1D and 2D stormwater models using HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, and FLO-2D.
- Support FEMA permitting efforts and navigate local drainage and floodplain regulations.
- Oversee drainage design and construction plan development utilizing AutoCAD.
- Manage geospatial and mapping data using ArcGIS and QGIS.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to EITs and junior staff.
- Conduct field investigations and prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Project Management Responsibilities
- Lead projects to successful completion while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders.
- Identify and implement process improvements and innovative engineering solutions.
- Monitor project performance metrics and assist with resource planning and staffing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Arizona PE registration preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- 5+ years of drainage, stormwater, or hydraulic/hydrologic engineering experience.
- Experience with construction methods, specifications, and design implementation.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Phoenix-area drainage criteria and regulations is highly preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds during site visits.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
