Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and stick methods.
• Read and fabricate from drawings provided by Lab Manager and Test Engineers.
• Assemble, install, align, modify, and test pumps per guidelines.
• Operate industrial equipment such as lathes, iron workers, band saws, and drill presses.
• Handle 110/220V single-phase and 220/480V three-phase electrical systems.

Hydraulic Lab Technician II

Department: Hydraulic Lab Reports to: Hydraulic Lab Test Engineer & Supervisor Location: Grovetown, GA, USA Shift: 1st FLSA Status: Non-exempt

OVERVIEW

The Hydraulic Lab Technician II works within a team environment to construct, fabricate, install, assemble, test, maintain, and remove equipment supporting test programs in the Hydraulic Test Lab. This role combines hands-on welding, fabrication, mechanical, and electrical skills with the ability to work safely and independently in a fast-paced industrial lab setting, while helping ensure equipment and test setups meet quality and performance standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work as a self-starter, taking initiative on tasks with minimal prompting
• Receive instructions and execute and track multiple tasks without direct supervision
• Adapt to shop standards and practices, remaining coachable and open to feedback
• Read and fabricate from drawings provided by the Lab Manager and Test Engineers
• Perform welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and stick methods
• Operate industrial equipment such as lathes, iron workers, band saws, and drill presses
• Use hand tools such as grinders, drills, and cutters, along with field fabrication methods
• Work with 110/220V single-phase and 220/480V three-phase electrical systems, including running conduit
• Assist with assembling, installing, aligning, modifying, adjusting, removing, and returning pumps in accordance with provided guidelines and drawings
• Perform pipe fitting on pipe of various sizes up to 54” for testing
• Apply working knowledge of low-voltage and instrumentation wiring (preferred)
• Apply working knowledge of general hydraulic systems
• Operate overhead cranes and mobile Hyster equipment to move parts within the lab
• Assist with miscellaneous tasks carried out in the Hydraulic Lab
• Maintain the lab in an organized and clean condition

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for mechanical and electrical issues

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Commitment to safety and adherence to lab and shop protocols
• Basic computer skills for recording and documenting test data

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequently: Stand, walk, and move throughout the lab for extended periods Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to perform assembly and testing tasks Lift and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds Use hands and fingers to operate tools, machinery, and equipment Climb ladders or stairs and work at various heights
• Occasionally: Lift or move materials weighing up to 75 pounds, with mechanical assistance or a team lift as needed Work in confined or elevated spaces Be exposed to loud noise, vibration, fumes, or temperature extremes typical of an industrial lab environment Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed footwear
