Job summary

Liberty Mutual is seeking an Experience Design Director in a hybrid role, based in US locations, to lead a team of 8–10 UX designers and researchers. You will set strategic vision for global employee experiences and partner with product, technology, and business teams to realize it.

You will mentor talent, advance design systems, and champion user-centered, data-driven design while exploring AI-enabled innovations in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years UX or design experience with leadership responsibility.
• Mastery in at least two UX disciplines and fluency in others.
• Experience applying Agile, Design Thinking, Lean UX or similar frameworks.
• Exceptional communication and storytelling to influence across the organization.
• Strategic thinking with empathy for users and a growth mindset.
• Commitment to inclusive, creative design culture.
• Proven ability to build cross-team relationships aligning UX strategy.
• Experience hiring top design talent and engaging in recruitment.
• Experience leading AI-related design work and judging where it helps.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 8–10 experience designers and researchers.

• Champion design excellence with data-driven methods.
• Build and grow the research practice and roadmap.
• Advocate for the user voice across all decisions.

• Elevate design systems, workflows, and standards.
• Grow talent through coaching and mentorship.
• Deliver UX assets including blueprints, roadmaps, personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes.
