Job summary

Denton County Friends of the Family is seeking a licensed Texas attorney to lead legal services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The role includes direct representation in court, referrals, and advocacy within a trauma-informed framework.

The position is hybrid remote, reports to the Executive Program Director of Legal Services, and supervises interns and volunteers. Grant-funded and dependent on funds availability.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in the State of Texas.
• Commitment to working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
• Experience in family law and protective orders preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish) oral and written preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, assistance, referrals and representation to eligible clients in a trauma-informed, victim-centered manner.
• Conduct intake interviews, determine eligibility, address conflicts of interest, and take appropriate action.
• Perform research and analysis, draft and file legal documents, and communicate with third parties.
• Cultivate relationships with partners and community organizations to advance goals.
• Lead or assist public trainings for law enforcement, attorneys, and professionals; travel within and outside Denton County as needed.
