Job summary

Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) seeks a Social Worker in Poughkeepsie, NY to provide trauma-informed services within an interdisciplinary legal team. You will support crime victims across family law, immigration, and public benefits, promoting stability and access to justice while ensuring OVS grant compliance.

The role emphasizes client advocacy, service coordination, and direct client contact, with opportunities for community partnerships and occasional remote work up to two days

Qualifications

• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited school.
• Minimum of two years of experience providing case management, client advocacy, counseling, or related social work services.
• Experience with trauma, domestic violence, crime victimization, mental health conditions, poverty or related barriers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to identify client needs, barriers, strengths, risks, and goals.
• Provide case management, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, safety planning, and trauma-informed support.
• Develop service plans with clients and coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, advocates, and partners.
• Assist crime victims with compensation and benefits applications through OVS.
• Help clients access benefits, health care, mental health services, and community resources.
• Advocate for clients with government agencies, healthcare providers, housing providers, and law enforcement.
