Job summary

Roadrunner is seeking a Database Administrator to manage SQL Server environments both on-premises and in Azure. You’ll ensure data integrity, optimize performance, and maintain availability to support analytics and operations in a hybrid data ecosystem.

Responsibilities include monitoring, tuning, patching, and leading cloud-native data solutions with Data Factory/Data Lakes, while driving CI/CD practices and maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience supporting SQL Server environments (on-premises and Azure).
• 4+ years of experience with Azure-based data warehouse and data integration solutions.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2008–2019) including SSRS, SSIS, SSAS.
• Advanced T-SQL skills with the ability to write and optimize complex queries.
• Experience with performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• Proven experience managing CI/CD pipelines in cloud data environments.
• Solid understanding of database architecture, design principles, and data modeling.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lakes, and Azure DevOps preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud computing infrastructure and distributed processing models preferred.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with persistence in diagnosing complex issues.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills.
• 5+ years of overall IT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own database operations and performance across on-premises and Azure SQL environments.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
• Manage transactional log processes and ensure data integrity across environments.
• Analyze workloads and implement tuning strategies for efficiency and scalability.
• Drive cloud/infrastructure excellence for Azure data assets and deployments.
• Lead patching, upgrades, and release deployments to maintain security and performance.
• Support data solutions including Azure SQL, Data Factory, and Data Lakes.
• Define, plan, and coordinate DB projects from concept to implementation.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation, diagrams, and procedures.
• Provide 24x7x365 support as part of a shared operations model.
