Job summary

Associates Systems LLC is seeking a Junior Database Administrator to join our Information Technology team. This role focuses on administering, monitoring, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases while ensuring data integrity and security.

You will work with senior DBAs and developers to support operations, perform backups, troubleshoot performance issues, and contribute to database solutions across production, development, and test environments.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
2-4 years of experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server or other relational database systems.
Experience writing SQL queries for data retrieval and modification.
Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, primary keys, foreign keys, and indexing.
Basic knowledge of backup and recovery procedures.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases and other DBMS.
Monitor database performance and perform routine maintenance to ensure availability.
Conduct database performance tuning, including query optimization and index maintenance.
Perform and validate backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures.
Monitor transaction logs, storage utilization, and system performance.
Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining database security, permissions, and access controls.
Develop, modify, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers.
Support database replication and synchronization between SQL Servers and remote locations.
Review database designs and recommend enhancements for performance and scalability.
Assist developers and analysts in creating and maintaining SQL and web-based database applications.
Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and runbooks.
Audit and update database records using SQL while ensuring data integrity.
Support database migration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
Participate in on-call support and maintenance windows as needed.
