Job summary

Calderdale Council is seeking a Social Worker (CAT) to join the Children’s Assessment Team in Halifax. The role focuses on safeguarding and providing a quality service to children in need of support and protection, with a commitment to maintaining manageable caseloads.

The post requires qualified social work status (BA/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent), registration with Social Work England, and experience in statutory children and families’ services. DBS disclosure is required before appointment.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker (BA/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent).
• Registered with Social Work England.

Responsibilities

• Provide a quality service to our children in need of support and protection.
• Undertake child and family single assessments, pre-birth assessments, section 47 enquiries.
• Progress cases via early intervention, child in need, or child protection avenues.
• Initiate care proceedings when required in line with public law outline.
• Contribute to age assessments, human rights assessments, and reports as needed.
