Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a Sewage Planning Trainee to learn how communities manage sewage planning and protect public health. You will review plans, evaluate agencies, and support statewide sewage management efforts while gaining hands-on experience with local agencies.

Qualifications

• Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field.
• A bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements within 3 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Agency Evaluation: conduct reviews of local agencies and sewage enforcement officers and recommend corrective actions.
• Complaint Review: assess sewage complaints and take action based on policy.
• Plan Review: examine land development proposals and determine actions for exemptions and planning components.
• Program Support: help develop guidance documents and deliver regional training for sewage enforcement officers.
• Data Management: maintain records in eFacts, OnBase, and related databases.
• Public Communication: provide information to officials, consultants, and the public regarding programs, rules, and procedures.
