Job summary

U.S. News & World Report in New York is seeking a Senior Software Developer (Python, React, AI) to build data-driven web applications serving millions of visitors. The role blends frontend and backend work with an AI-first mindset.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and testers, mentor developers, and influence architectural decisions while delivering clean, well-documented code. The base salary ranges from $100,000 to $140,000 annually.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of related or similar full stack experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• Experience with AI-assisted development, skills, agents, automations.
• Modern JavaScript frameworks, such as React.
• Web styling with CSS preprocessors or CSS-in-JS.
• Modern JavaScript patterns and ES6.
• Server-side technologies, such as Python, Java, or NodeJS.
• Databases, such as PostgreSQL.
• Unix-based operating systems, such as Linux or Mac OS X, along with shells and command-line tools.
• Version control, such as Git.
• CICD pipelines such as Jenkins (nice to have).
• Cloud environments such as AWS (nice to have).
• Data ingestion/transformation (nice to have).
• Developed product-facing AI features (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• A key contributor for a team of developers working with one of our verticals.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, mentor developers.
• Employ an AI-first approach to day-to-day investigation & development.
• Develop and maintain clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Make code architecture decisions.
• Review code for quality.
• Serve as a technical role model.
• Senior team members are responsible for promoting the overall quality of our team and technology.
