Job summary

The Ash Group is hiring a Senior Database Administrator for a 12-month contract in Minneapolis, MN. This hybrid role covers multiple database platforms, including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB, with a focus on performance tuning, backups, and data governance.

You will develop automation scripts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technology, science, business or related field, or 8 years of equivalent experience.
• Experience with SQL Server and Oracle is required.
• Backup/recovery and performance tuning expertise needed.
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Shell) required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Data governance acumen and analytical skills.
• Experience with distributed computing, data visualization, architecture, statistical and predictive modeling.
• Machine learning experience is a plus.
• Reporting solution design and delivery experience.
• BI solution recommendation experience.
• Clustering and high-availability experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support multiple database platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB).
• Perform performance tuning, patching, and database builds.
• Ensure backup and recovery processes and business continuity.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Shell).
• Participate in on-call rotation and monitor DBA helpdesk.
• Collaborate with application support teams and project stakeholders.
• Use ServiceNow to manage and fulfill requests.
• Support capacity planning and data integrity audits.
• Provide technical knowledge and consultation on data governance.
• Drive adoption of standard tools and data management practices.
• Enable data-driven decisions through analytics.
• Serve as diagnostician and solution provider for data-related issues.
