Job summary

HED seeks an experienced Sector Leader to join our Chicago team. The Sector Leader – Community role bridges design leadership and market-facing business development, acting as Principal‑in‑Charge on projects and growing client partnerships.

The position balances about 50% chargeable work with 50% business development, mentorship, and thought leadership, with hybrid work arrangements and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• This role requires a professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 12 years of Community sector experience with leadership and client development.
• Proficiency with Revit, Deltek Vision, MS Teams, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and CRM platforms.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Principal-in-Charge (PIC) on projects, ensuring design excellence and delivery.
• Lead delivery teams with clear performance expectations and accountability.
• Promote DEI, sustainability, and quality in project work and client engagement.
• Develop sector-specific pursuits and grow long-term client relationships.
