Job summary

HarperCollins Publishers in New York City is seeking a Rights Coordinator to support a dynamic group of rights professionals. The role blends administrative tasks with submission, negotiation, and sale of translation rights in select territories, under general supervision.

Based in NYC with a hybrid schedule, you will assist across General Books rights including imprints like William Morrow, Mariner, Avon, and Voyager.

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in publishing rights licensing.
  • Hybrid work schedule (3 days/week in office).
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize a large volume of work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities under pressure and to work independently.
  • Passionate about learning the business-side of the publishing industry.
  • Genuine interest in licensing and book publishing.

Responsibilities

  • Support titles in translation markets across specified territories (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia).
  • Solicit top General Books titles to publishers in the listed territories.
  • Maintain and update publisher contact databases for assigned markets.
  • Coordinate with Royalties to track payments in these territories.
  • Attend and participate in client pitch meetings and respond to inquiries.
  • Process licensee approvals and maintain related documentation and invoices.
  • Assist with planning and logistics for international book fairs.
  • Provide administrative support to supervisors and rights team across imprints.
  • Support monthly author reversion research and UK title list maintenance.
