Job summary

California Department of Health Care Services is seeking a Research Data Specialist I (Hybrid Option) in Sacramento. Under general direction, you will design and conduct complex analytical studies of encounter data and other managed care data sources, and prepare actionable reports for HIMD to assess MCP performance against contracts.

This 12-month limited-term position offers telework flexibility, potential path to permanency, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail; able to work independently or in a team and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of statistics and data collection/analysis techniques.
• Experience with SAS, R, Python, Databricks and/or SQL; willingness to learn new tools.
• Experience in health care, pharmaceutical, or public health sectors.

Responsibilities

• Independently designs, organizes, and conducts complex analytical studies of encounter data and other managed care data sources.
• Prepares clear, actionable reports to convey study results and guide HIMD on MCP performance.
• Supports training and development assignments and potential transition to permanent appointment.
