Job summary

Elevance Health, Inc. is hiring a Referral Specialist II to support a clinical team with administrative tasks for referrals. The role is hybrid, with in-office requirements three days per week at the Plano, TX site, and a schedule of 8:30am–5:00pm or 9:00am–5:30pm CST, Monday–Friday.

Strong communication, attention to detail and empathy are essential. You will verify insurance, obtain authorizations when needed, and enter referrals and related data in the system, coordinating with hospitals,

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required
• 1 year of experience in a high-volume healthcare call center
• Healthcare environment experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between hospital, health plans, physicians, patients, vendors and other referral sources.
• Review complex referrals for completeness and follow up for additional information.
• Assign referrals to staff as appropriate.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations from insurance plans.
• Enter referrals and document communications and actions in the system.
• Demonstrate ability to multi-task across calls, texts, faxes and electronic queues while taking notes and speaking with customers.
