Job summary

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of experience supporting radio communication systems.
• Experience with EF Johnson radio systems or similar public safety tech.
• Knowledge of radio systems, fleet mapping, programming, and infrastructure.
• Experience with hardware, software, and network tech for radio systems.
• Understanding FCC licensing, radio frequencies, and interoperability concepts.
• Experience maintaining inventories and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with networking concepts and troubleshooting.
• Experience installing and working with vendors/technical partners.
• Ability to travel throughout Wisconsin for onsite support and maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• MS Office skills; Visio or similar diagramming is a plus.
• Advanced PC and technical support skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and support EF Johnson radio systems and related technologies.
• Develop and implement radio system standards across facilities.
• Support installation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of radio equipment.
• Assist with fleet mapping, code plug management, and inventory management.
• Maintain databases and documentation related to radio assets and configurations.
• Coordinate procurement and deployment of radio equipment with cost effectiveness.
• Support FCC licenses and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with tower licenses and FAA approvals where applicable.
• Work with external agencies to support interoperability and frequency coordination.
• Participate in statewide radio planning and modernization initiatives.
• Assist configuring networking equipment supporting radio systems.
• Connect radio systems to state network infrastructure and ensure standards.
• Install and back up workstations supporting integrated radio environments.
• Collaborate with vendors and engineers on upgrades and new installations.
• Develop communications plans, disaster recovery strategies, and security docs.
• Conduct onsite assessments, testing, troubleshooting, and QA of radio systems.
