Job summary

Orion Engineers, PLLC is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer focused on infrastructure to join our team. You will work under the VP - Structures on varied highway projects, with exposure to design, permitting, and client collaboration.

The ideal candidate has a PE in Illinois, 3+ years of transportation engineering experience, and proficiency with MicroStation; knowledge of ISTHA/IDOT policies is a plus. We offer hybrid work and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Minimum 3+ years progressively responsible experience as a Transportation Engineer or similar position.
• Familiarity with ISTHA/IDOT policies, roadway design and plan preparation, and construction engineering.
• Experience with MicroStation design software.
• Geopak SS4/3D experience with modeling, cross sections and SUDA is a plus.
• Driver's license to travel to project locations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze information and data to perform routine design tasks.
• Receive instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers on the expected results.
• Research design options and document findings.
• Ensure accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, and conformance to budgets and schedules.
• Research code requirements and prepare environmental and other permits reports.
• Keep Project Manager informed of workload and schedule changes.
• Attend workshops to maintain professional knowledge and contribute to business development.
• Assist in non-design activities such as field data collection and construction support.
