Job summary

Ford Motor Company’s Research and Advanced Engineering team invites applications for a Controls Research Engineer to develop control systems for gasoline and hybrid powertrains. The role covers modeling, data analysis, and implementation of algorithms in embedded C, with a focus on robustness and validation through tests and HIL/SIL/MIL environments.

Qualifications

  • Requires a master's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace or related field, or foreign equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in control design and modeling for mechanical or electrical systems.
  • 3 years of experience with Matlab and Simulink for control development and analysis.
  • 3 years of experience in data analysis for mechanical or electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle and dynamometer based testing to collect required data.
  • Develop vehicle and gasoline engine test plans.
  • Perform data analysis and develop requirements.
  • Design and validate control systems using models and experiments.
  • Implement embedded C code for control systems.
  • Collaborate with HIL/SIL/MIL teams to verify software.
  • Manage version control with ClearCase or GitHub.
  • Develop instrumentation and experimental setups for testing.
  • Apply AI methods to improve design efficiency and workflow.
  • Present designs and performance results to senior management.
