Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certification required within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary draws to collect blood samples.
• Register patients for laboratory and radiology procedures and manage record keeping.
• Ensure proper identification, labeling, and documentation of specimens.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols during collections.
• Greet patients and explain procedures to alleviate concerns.
• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow in the laboratory.
• Enter patient and test data into the laboratory information system.
• Collaborate with lab staff and healthcare providers to ensure quality patient care.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to safety standards.
• Complete order requisitions and follow up with providers for signed copies.
• Accept water samples for testing and distribute results as appropriate.
