Job summary

Vanscoy Rare Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Intern in the Pittsburgh area to assist pharmacists with dispensing, order processing, and patient communications under supervision. The hybrid work environment allows some remote work while requiring occasional in-office presence.

Current enrollment in an ACPE-accredited PharmD program with good standing is required, along with coursework equivalent to the first professional year. The role emphasizes collaboration, quality, and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program and in good standing.
• Minimum coursework equivalent to the first professional year of pharmacy school.
• ACPE accreditation status required for program eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with medical providers for order clarification and care coordination.
• Discuss prescribed therapies with patients to improve outcomes.
• Assist pharmacists and technicians with fulfillment and inventory tasks.
• Dispense medications and process orders accurately using prescription systems.
• Support development and maintenance of pharmacy work instructions and materials.
• Identify areas for improvement and assist with solutions.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per privacy regulations (HIPAA).
• Provide staffing support according to a Manager, Pharmacy Operations schedule.
