Job summary

Milber Makris Plousadis & Seiden, LLP, a civil litigation defense firm in Purchase, NY, seeks a paralegal with law office experience to support attorneys across all phases of litigation. The role requires four days in the office and one day remote after initial six weeks of in-office training.

The ideal candidate will be organized, eager to learn, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Insurance defense exposure and a paralegal certificate are a plus but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' paralegal experience required.
• Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel & Adobe Acrobat.
• Highly proficient typing with excellent grammatical accuracy.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication; strong legal terminology skills.
• Proficient in drafting legal documents.
• Proficient with electronic filings in State and Federal Courts.

Responsibilities

• Review case assignments and examine claim documents, pleadings, and supporting records for consistency, legal sufficiency, and deadlines.
• Calendar management for assigned caseload.
• Coordinate with support services, opposing firms and courts.
• Draft legal documents for review and use by attorneys (pleadings, discovery, notices, affidavits, subpoenas, RJIs, etc.).
• Motion preparation and exhibit identification.
• Document productions and redactions.
• Prepare witness/exhibit lists and trial binders.
• Retain expert witnesses and prepare indexes.
• Organize and maintain case files and electronic document management systems.
