Job summary

Wärtsilä in Houston seeks an Operations Expert to join the North America Operations Management Support team. You will provide proactive operational guidance for 4-stroke engines and power plant operations, with advanced remote technical support to contractual customers.

The role is hybrid and based in Houston, TX, with at least two days per week in the office. Travel may be required based on business needs, and you will report to the Area Manager, Americas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum five years' hands-on experience with 4-stroke engines.
• Minimum five years' experience with engine control systems.
• Strong knowledge of power plant operations and reciprocating engine tech.
• Experience with performance monitoring and trend analysis.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive daily operational support to contractual customers, including advanced remote troubleshooting for 4-stroke engines and associated systems.
• Support failure prevention, performance tuning, and recovery activities following First Time Right principles.
• Analyze customer drivers and contractual requirements to optimize plant performance.
• Use data trends to identify deviations, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare clear remote assessment reports based on data and findings.
• Build trusted customer relationships through effective communication and practical recommendations.
• Document and manage service requests, findings, actions, and follow-ups.
