Job summary

Motion Recruitment in Chicago is seeking an Offensive Security Engineer to join its cybersecurity team. You will perform penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, adversary simulations, and security validation across enterprise environments.

This hybrid role requires three days per week in the Chicago office, collaborating with infrastructure, cloud, and development teams. Strong reporting and communication to technical and business stakeholders are essential.

Qualifications

• CISSP and OSCP certifications required or in progress.
• 4+ years in offensive security, pentesting, or security engineering.
• Experience in network, web app, cloud, and infrastructure testing.
• Ability to assess vulnerabilities and perform risk analysis.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and OWASP Top 10.
• Proficient with Burp Suite, Nmap, Metasploit, Nessus, and similar tools.
• Strong Windows/Linux/AD, networking, and cloud platform understanding.
• Scripting in Python/PowerShell/Bash and clear reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct internal/external penetration testing across enterprise environments.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and validate remediation efforts.
• Test web apps, networks, cloud, and infrastructure for security gaps.
• Simulate real-world attack scenarios to identify weaknesses.
• Collaborate with engineering/infrastructure to prioritize fixes.
• Develop detailed findings reports with business impact.
• Participate in red team exercises and security validation initiatives.
• Improve offensive security tooling, methodologies, and testing standards.
