Job summary

New York State Office of the Attorney General is seeking experienced litigators to serve as Assistant Attorneys General in the Litigation Bureau (New York City office). The role involves representing the state and agencies in civil actions in federal and state courts with a wide range of legal issues, including constitutional questions and regulatory interpretations.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of post-graduate civil litigation experience in federal and New York state courts.
• Excellent legal analysis, writing, editing, and oral advocacy.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
• Comfort with technology and experience with case management and e-discovery platforms.
• Prior complex litigation and trial experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of litigation from inception through trial as a generalist for the Litigation Bureau.
• Develop case strategy, draft briefs, and present at oral arguments.
• Collaborate with a team of litigators while prioritizing professional development and teamwork.
