Job summary

Waymo LLC in Mountain View, CA, is seeking a machine learning engineer to own end-to-end onroad behavior models within the Waymo Driver. You will develop scalable ML methods, analyze real-world data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the driver’s reliability.

This hybrid/remote-friendly senior role requires a CS degree, 3+ years in ML or CV, and hands-on Python or C++ with PyTorch or JAX. Salary range advertised: $175k–$215k plus equity and bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in CS or equivalent deep learning experience.
• 3+ years experience in ML and/or CV.
• Experience with Python or C++.
• Experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch or JAX.

Responsibilities

• Own tasks in ML Driver and develop methods to scale and improve tasks.
• Analyze behavior of ML systems in real-world applications and identify root causes.
• Develop methods for distributed fine-tuning to enable multiple developers to improve models.
• Monitor ML systems in production and develop AI-aided analysis and debugging tooling.
• Develop and maintain model evaluation recipes and metrics for measuring performance.
