Job summary

UB Associates, Inc. is seeking a Medical Coder to join our Buffalo, NY hybrid team. You will code charges from provider encounters using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS, enter data in the CGM system, and verify EMR information.

A CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification is required; a high school diploma is required, with an associate degree preferred. At least 1 year of coding experience is expected, with family medicine experience a plus. Referral bonuses and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Code charges from provider encounters using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Enter charges from all sites in the CGM billing system and verify EMR data.
• Evaluate documentation to ensure correct diagnoses, procedures, and E/M levels are assigned.
• Review coding denials and submit appeals as needed.
• Assist with resolving reimbursement issues related to coding accuracy.
• Provide feedback to physicians and support coding education for staff and residents.
• Answer patient and insurance inquiries as needed.
• Participate in meetings, committees, and process improvement initiatives.

Pay Range: $24.00-$31.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Coding & Charge Accuracy

• Accurately code charges from provider encounter forms and operative reports using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Enter charges from all sites in the CGM billing system and verify EMR data
• Evaluate provider documentation to ensure correct diagnoses, procedures, and E/M levels are assigned

Denials & Appeals Support

• Review coding denials and submit appeals as needed
• Assist with resolving reimbursement issues related to coding accuracy

Provider Collaboration & Education
