UB Associates, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our healthcare team in a hybrid full-time role.

You will code diagnostic, procedural, and surgical information to support proper reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, CCS/CCS-P/CPC certification, at least one year of ICD-10 coding experience, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; CCS/CCS-P/CPC certification preferred.
• ICD-10 coding experience and knowledge of CPT/HCPCS essential.
• Attention to detail and ability to learn in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code charges using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS; enter data in the CGM system.
• Evaluate provider documentation to ensure correct diagnoses, procedures, and E/M levels.
• Review denials and submit appeals; assist with reimbursement issues related to coding accuracy.
• Provide feedback to physicians and educate staff; respond to patient/insurer inquiries.

Position Summary

UB Associates, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate coding of diagnostic, procedural, and surgical information that supports proper reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.

The Coding Specialist plays a key role in revenue cycle success by evaluating provider documentation, resolving coding denials, supporting education initiatives, and ensuring compliance with coding standards.

Key Responsibilities

Coding & Charge Accuracy

• Accurately code charges from provider encounter forms and operative reports using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Enter charges from all sites in the CGM billing system and verify EMR data
• Evaluate provider documentation to ensure correct diagnoses, procedures, and E/M levels are assigned

Denials & Appeals Support

• Review coding denials and submit appeals as needed
• Assist with resolving reimbursement issues related to coding accuracy

Provider Collaboration & Education

• Provide feedback to physicians and support coding education for staff and residents
• Answer patient and insurance inquiries as needed
• Participate in meetings, committees, and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification required
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Minimum 1 year of coding experience using ICD-10 or equivalent
• Family medicine experience preferred but not required
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Commitment to ongoing education to maintain certification
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
