Walker Sands, a leading B2B marketing agency in Chicago, seeks a Media Relations Specialist to join our hybrid team. You will craft pitches, write press materials, and secure coverage for diverse clients.

This role kicks off in early 2027 with ongoing collaboration across accounts and a dynamic agency environment. The position requires at least 1+ year in public relations, strong writing and media skills, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Experience in public relations or media relations with the ability to research industries, trends and audiences.
• Hands-on experience with media relations including pitching, coordinating interviews, follow-up, and securing coverage.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop targeted media lists and identify reporters, publications and media opportunities for clients.
• Conceptualize and develop pitches tailored to reporters, audiences, and news cycles.
• Write and edit press releases, contributed articles, pitches and other media materials.
• Support media opportunities from start to finish, coordinate interviews, follow-up and track coverage.
• Conduct media, industry and competitive research to identify trends and opportunities for clients.
• Build and maintain relationships with reporters and media contacts.
