Job summary

Johnson & Bell, Trial Lawyers, a leading Midwest litigation firm, seeks a full-time Litigation Legal Assistant for our Crown Point Office. You will support attorneys in all phases of litigation, manage case files, court filings, scheduling, and document preparation in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized with strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to prioritize competing priorities while staying professional.

Qualifications

• Experience as a legal assistant, preferably in litigation.
• Knowledge of Indiana and federal court rules and procedures.
• Experience preparing, proofreading, and filing litigation documents.
• Experience with electronic court filing systems.
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with competing priorities.
• Typing speed of at least 65 words per minute.
• Close attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and trial documents.
• File documents in state and federal courts as required.
• Maintain attorney calendars and coordinate depositions, hearings, and meetings.
• Manage case files and HIPAA-sensitive medical records.
• Communicate professionally with clients, witnesses, and colleagues.
• Coordinate service of pleadings and discovery documents.
• Assist with trial preparation and case investigation.
• Process invoices and related documentation.
• Use document management systems to maintain records.
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to support case management.
• Support litigation from inception through trial.
