Job summary

Children's Home Society of Florida is seeking a Literacy Coordinator to promote, organize and coordinate literacy-focused events and activities across communities, engaging families to learn and love reading.

You will plan workshops, partner with schools and libraries, recruit attendees, and track outcomes while maintaining CHS's commitment to service, education, and family empowerment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Literature, Communication or related field is required.
• One year of experience in event planning, coordination, or project management is required.
• Knowledge of community resources, literature, and education trends.
• Strong planning, organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with communities and coordinate events to promote reading and literacy.
• Plan, host, and facilitate family education workshops on literacy skills.
• Coordinate logistics for events, including setup, signage, and materials.
• Recruit and manage attendees, marketing, registration and information sharing.
• Assist eligible families in registering for literacy initiatives.
• Develop marketing strategies to raise awareness and drive attendance.
• Collaborate with schools, libraries and partners to promote events.
• Research current literary trends and educational resources.
• Design activities that promote reading comprehension and creativity.
• Track attendance and feedback for events and report results.
