Job summary

Harris Beach Murtha’s Knowledge Services team seeks a Research Analyst to conduct legal, business, and other research in support of attorneys, staff, and clients. The role requires 1-3 years of legal research experience in a law firm, a Bachelor's degree, and MLS or equivalent.

Proficiency with Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, and Office tools is expected. Strong organizational and client service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in legal research in a law firm (required).
• A Bachelor’s Degree (required) and MLS or equivalent degree (preferred).
• Experience with electronic research sources such as Westlaw, CoCounsel, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, Practical Law, VitalLaw and other standard law library applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CoPilot and SharePoint applications.
• Strong attention to detail and curiosity in identifying relevant and creative solutions.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Superior client service and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis to support attorneys, staff and clients.
• Manage multiple research requests with competing deadlines and maintain quality.
• Synthesize information from diverse sources to identify authority, data and insights.
• Collaborate with practice groups to understand information needs and deliver effective research solutions.
• Assist with or develop research training for attorneys, staff and clients.
• Promote efficient use of research tools and services through outreach and trainings.
• Evaluate and select research resources and services.
• Participate in special projects under Knowledge Services leadership.
