Job summary

M&T Bank is hiring a Lead Software Engineer to drive the Tech 360 Platform at its Buffalo, NY location. The role emphasizes enterprise-grade software, cloud-native design, and data-driven decision support across the organization.

The candidate will design and implement REST APIs, microservices, and scalable databases while mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices. Onsite four days a week with one day from home, in a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

7+ years of systems analysis and/or application development experience.
Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
Angular and modern front-end development experience.
Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native development experience.
CI/CD pipeline implementation experience.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support enterprise-grade applications using one or more languages.
Develop and maintain REST APIs, responsive web apps, ETL solutions, and scalable DBs.
Lead cloud-native implementations with Kubernetes, containers, and microservices.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence and resiliency.
Partner with architects and security teams on access controls.
Participate in Agile/SAFe delivery teams and drive continuous improvement.
