Job summary

Morningstar is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Customer Experience & Reliability in Chicago. You will drive resolution of complex, cross-system production issues while remaining technically engaged and maintaining strong ownership.

Collaborative leadership and hands-on analysis will shape observability, problem solving, and service dependability. You will work closely with a Senior Engineering Manager to prioritize issues, coordinate responses, and translate customer impact into systemic

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering, production support, reliability, or tech-lead experience.
Hands-on with C#, .NET / .NET Core and modern JavaScript.
Experience in distributed systems in production environments.
Comfort with AWS-hosted architectures and cloud patterns.
Proven ability to lead incidents and cross-team technical problem solving.
Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

Lead Production Issue Ownership and drive timely resolution.
Coordinate cross-functional debugging across Engineering, Customer Success, Operations, and Support.
Guide root-cause analysis and ensure effective follow-up actions.
Mentor teams on incident handling and production readiness.
Translate customer impact into actionable technical decisions.
