Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking an experienced audit professional for a hybrid role based in the United States. You will lead audits from planning through reporting, leveraging analytics and modern methods to validate controls and remediations.

You will coach junior auditors, partner with business management, and ensure adherence to risk and regulatory standards while delivering timely, high-quality work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience
• Minimum of 1 year’s leadership experience
• Experience with internal audit methodology
• Solid understanding of internal control concepts
• Experience evaluating adequacy of the controls
• Strong leadership skills
• Experience coaching and developing others
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience presenting sensitive and complex findings to business management
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects at the same time

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute audits from planning to reporting, delivering high-quality results
• Plan and execute assurance activities including continuous auditing and validation procedures
• Write audit findings with clear risk and root cause, and communicate them to management
• Partner with stakeholders and risk management to maintain independence
• Incorporate data analytics and automation into audits and activities
• Maintain subject-matter expertise and oversee auditors/new hires
• Promote a culture of engagement and belonging
• Adhere to internal controls and risk management standards
• Complete related duties as assigned
