Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking an Excess & Surplus (Binding) Intern for the summer of 2027 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The program blends office-based work with remote days, offering hands-on underwriting exposure, team collaboration, and real-world project experience.

Eligibility includes rising juniors or seniors, authorization to work in the United States, and the ability to commit May 24–July 30, 2027. Training, mentorship, and networking with industry experts are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate rising junior or senior and authorized to work in the United States.
• Basic spreadsheet skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical resources.
• Willingness to learn and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Learn underwriting functions and the Commercial Property and Casualty business.
• Examine applications, reports, and third-party data to assist underwriters.
• Assist with rating of accounts and participate in team meetings.
• Shadow underwriters and support with special projects as needed.
