Job summary

The University of Kansas Medical Center Information Security Analyst I is a member of the Information Security team supporting ongoing protection of information assets. The role emphasizes real-time threat detection, incident response, and collaboration with IT to secure networks, data centers, and endpoints.

The position requires 2 years in information security, 1 year IT experience, networking knowledge, and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ experience in information security or related field.
• One (1) year of progressive IT or information security experience.
• Experience with networking architectures, topologies, practices and technologies.
• Experience handling privacy and confidentiality in information use.
• Experience providing technical support or security guidance to users.

Responsibilities

• Perform real-time security log and event analysis and contain threats.
• Review security events, determine severity, and document activity.
• Develop and maintain security operations procedures and incident records.
• Develop strategies with leadership to enforce security requirements.
• Detect and report residual risks and vulnerabilities to IS management.
• Monitor networks for security breaches and investigate violations.
• Respond to incidents and maintain monitoring and response processes.
• Analyze logs to narrate security incidents and support remediation.
• Provide frontline guidance to IT staff and users on security issues.
