SmartStart Education, LLC is seeking a Hybrid High School ELA Tutor to support grades 10–12 with both in-person and virtual sessions. You will run small-group tutoring on Mondays and offer additional virtual one-on-one sessions based on student needs, tracking progress and attendance using a mobile device.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree, has at least one year of teaching or tutoring experience, and is committed to helping urban students succeed in ELA.

Responsabilités

• Deliver in-person small-group ELA instruction (1:4) on Mondays 12:45–4:45 PM.

Hybrid High School ELA Tutor

SmartStart Education seeks a High School ELA Tutor to work with students in grades 10th - 12th who need additional support in developing fundamental English Language Arts skills. On Mondays, the tutor will provide in-person small-group tutoring in a 1:4 setting from 12:45 PM to 4:45 PM. Additional virtual one-on-one tutoring opportunities are available Tuesday through Saturday, with scheduling based on the tutor’s availability and student needs.

The tutor will support students in strengthening their ELA skills through targeted instruction tailored to their individual learning needs. The ideal candidate should be comfortable providing both in-person small-group instruction and virtual one-on-one tutoring. Tutors will be responsible for taking daily attendance and monitoring student progress using a personal mobile device. Tutors providing virtual instruction must have their own computer, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet workspace suitable for tutoring sessions.

Job Details:

The tutoring position begins promptly on 11/2/2026 and ends on 5/24/2027. The in-person schedule will be Mondays from 12:45 PM to 4:45 PM, with additional virtual tutoring sessions scheduled Tuesday through Saturday based on tutor availability and student needs.

Salary Range: $29.11 - $32.34 per hour.

• Mastery of high school ELA concepts and skills, substantiating proficiency in the subject matter.
• Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
• Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
• Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
• Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
• Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
• Ability to comfortably navigate a school environment, including walking through hallways, classrooms, and stairways throughout the workday.
