Job summary

Washington State Senate Committee Services in Olympia seeks session Hearing Room Specialists to provide Zoom-based support for Senate committees and virtual attendance. The role requires strong customer service, technical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, nonpartisan environment.

These temporary positions will run for approximately 14-17 weeks during the 2027 legislative session. Applicants should be prepared for long hours and hybrid meeting support in a demanding legislative

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to provide technical support and strong customer service under pressure.
  • Experience with Zoom videoconferencing and other conferencing tools.
  • Familiarity with AV equipment and multi-tasking in fast-paced settings.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and nonpartisan professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills in a legislative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Zoom meetings for Senate committees and manage links.
  • Provide logistical and technical support during hybrid meetings in Zoom.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues for members, staff, presenters, and the public.
  • Manage multiple applications during fast-paced hearings.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to Senators, staff and attendees.
  • Update meeting tracking apps and coordinate with other teams.
  • Assist in facilitating public testimony and write concise administrative correspondence.
  • Develop understanding of legislative processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide support.
