Job summary

Mercer is seeking a Sr Health Actuarial Consultant to lead client engagements focused on employers' health benefits strategies, including financial projections, plan design optimization, and renewal negotiations. This hybrid role requires in‑office work at least three days per week.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field is required.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in an actuarial role with health and benefits consulting experience.
• Progress toward ASA designation.
• Client facing experience.
• Strong analytical skills; proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead routine client engagements, overseeing service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, benchmarking and other health and welfare insurance projects.
• Review analyses by junior staff to ensure actuarial soundness and aid their development.
• Embrace AI and technology-enabled tools to improve work processes.
• Perform and review complex analyses and cost projections using Excel, SAS, and other software; may specialize in healthcare-related insurance.
• Draft and review client reports or presentations to summarize findings and recommend strategies or solutions.
