Job summary

PPSNE is seeking a clinician to provide in-clinic patient care and telehealth across regional health centers. The role includes asynchronous e-visits, EHR inbox management, and follow-ups to support the Care Coordination Team.

The position requires clinical supervision under the Center Manager and collaboration with health center teams to ensure PPSNE protocols, quality standards, and patient education are met, including complex care planning and lab follow-ups.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in person and via telehealth and asynchronous e-visits.
  • Float to health centers regionally and support Care Coordination Team (CCT) activities.
  • Manage EHR inboxes and follow-ups; sign off on lab/imaging reports and plan follow-ups.
  • Support complex care planning communication with patients (e.g., beta-quant HCG follow-up, breast/cervical health).
  • Maintain documentation and billing/coding practices in medical records.
  • Participate in training clinicians and precept learners; support quality improvement and HIPAA compliance.

Job description

In this hybrid position, the clinician will float to health centers in the region to provide in‑clinic patient care, cover telehealth sessions (from a health center or administrative building), handle asynchronous e‑visits, support health center teams by managing EHR inboxes and follow‑ups, and assist as needed in the Care Coordination Team. The exact mix will depend on the organization’s needs.

The clinician will float to various health centers and work under the supervision of the Center Manager and in collaboration with the health center care team to provide direct patient care in accordance with PPSNE protocols both in person and on telehealth.

While working Care Coordination Team (CCT) sessions, under the supervision of the CCT Manager, the clinician is responsible for managing follow‑up of abnormal results, signing off on lab reports, and providing clinical support. He/she will communicate with patients regarding more complex care plans such as beta‑quant HCG follow‑up, breast and cervical health follow‑up, and urgent follow‑up.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Nurse Midwife training program or Medical School.
  • Appropriate professional certification (ANCC, NCC, ACNM, NCCPA or MD).
  • Active licensure in good standing (State Medical License for CT and/or RI, Controlled Substance Registration, DEA).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Experience in sexual and reproductive healthcare.
  • Primary care experience preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred (English–Spanish).
Patient Care
  • Ensures high quality direct patient interactions in person, on telehealth, and on asynchronous e‑visits.
  • Performs physical exam, orders and/or performs appropriate laboratory testing, and recognizes deviations.
  • Performs and interprets limited pelvic ultrasound.
  • Implements individualized regimen of care in compliance with PPSNE medical policies and procedures, including patient education and referral of services; initiates appropriate tracking of abnormal results and referrals.
  • Completes documentation of patient care in the medical record timely and completely.
  • Maintains appropriate billing and coding practices.
  • Provides telephone triage for incoming clinical calls received by the call center, as needed.
  • Communicates with patients regarding more complex care plans such as beta‑quant HCG follow‑up, breast and cervical health follow‑up, and urgent follow‑up.
  • Completes follow‑up on laboratory and imaging results per PPFA Medical Standards and Guidelines (MS&G).
  • Provides medication abortion and participates in the evaluation and management of patients receiving procedural abortion services.
  • Maintains clinical quality assurance standards as set forth by PPSNE.
  • Appropriately recognizes boundaries of own knowledge and utilizes appropriate channels for support.
  • Participates in providing all medical services offered by PPSNE after appropriate training and privileging.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in follow‑up policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Signs off on lab/imaging reports and creates follow‑up plans for abnormal results in adherence to affiliate protocols.
  • Documents clearly for CCT and health center staff to carry out notifications and reminders for each plan.
  • Supports the agency’s mission and all sexual and reproductive health services offered, including family planning, preventive screenings, STI testing and treatment, birth control methods, gender‑affirming care, and abortion services.
  • Completes responsibilities per established protocols, policies, and standard practices in customer service, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA.
  • Maintains active licenses and certifications as required, including state medical license, DEA license, BLS certification.
  • Completes re‑appointment process with Credentialing every three years.
  • Supports quality improvement activities such as performing chart audits.

  • Partners with the Center Manager in supervision of clinical care and training of clinic assistants and volunteers.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, leadership, and teamwork; understands interaction between the clinician position and others.
  • Participates in training clinicians and precepts medical learners (nursing, medical, resident physicians) in consultation with senior leadership.
  • Supports a culture of feedback; open to giving and receiving feedback.

  • Works collaboratively with volunteers to achieve the agency’s mission.
