Job summary

Aloha Tree Alliance (ATA) seeks an Education & Community Manager to lead youth and community education programs, deepen community partnerships, and expand opportunities to engage Hawaiʻi’s forests and watersheds.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the role balances developing education initiatives, coordinating internships, and leading ATA’s communications strategy across social channels, newsletters, and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Environmental Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in education, nonprofit outreach, or communications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing social media and digital content creation.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace, MS Office, Canva, Mailchimp, and Wordpress.

Responsibilities

  • Lead education programs for K–12 students, higher-education students, and community members.
  • Coordinate classroom visits and field-based learning at program sites.
  • Manage internship program recruitment, scheduling, and delivery.
  • Develop curricula and educational materials on local ecosystems and stewardship.
  • Build relationships with schools, educators, and community partners.
  • Oversee calendars, registrations, logistics, supplies, and budgets.
  • Collect feedback and track outcomes for reports and planning.
  • Represent ATA at school fairs, events, conferences, and outreach opportunities.
  • Lead communications and community outreach via social media, newsletters, and reports.
  • Develop content (photos, videos, stories) for broader audiences.
  • Maintain editorial calendar and support website content.
