Job summary

The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) is seeking a skilled Accountant to support accounting operations, monthly closes, and financial reporting for endowment and program funds. You will ensure journal entries are accurate and compliant with GAAP, collaborate across departments, and assist with audits and process improvements.

Hybrid work environment with emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and teamwork. Minimum five years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's in Accounting are required.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to present findings clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across organizational levels.
• Experience with financial reporting, close processes, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Enter all transactions in Blackbaud Financial Edge and ensure accuracy of journal entries.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, transfers, and donor stock gifts.
• Reconcile endowment, program, and working funds in the General Ledger; maintain fiscal records.
• Support monthly closes and year-end reporting; assist with audits and documentation.
• Identify improvement opportunities and help implement accounting best practices.
