Job summary

Virginia Housing is seeking an Education and Training Officer in the Community Outreach Division to deliver partner training and consumer education statewide. The role requires designing curricula, coordinating both in-person and virtual classes, and representing the agency at events with public speaking engagements.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, strong relationship-building and project-management skills, and experience with Cvent and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; relevant work experience.
  • Experience building strong working relationships with community organizations, non-profits, financial institutions, colleges, and workforce programs.
  • Knowledge of video conferencing platforms.
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills with the ability to present to varied audiences.
  • Understanding of regulations governing consumer rights and responsibilities.
  • Experience using Cvent Event Platform to coordinate registrations and create training events.
  • Experience in creating high-quality PowerPoint presentations for instructional use.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Collaboration, partnership building, and networking skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and identify opportunities to improve programs and processes.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of low/moderate housing programs and program planning from concept to implementation.
  • HUD Housing Counseling Certification preferred.
  • Background check and driving record will be performed.
  • Virginia Housing associates must live and work within the Commonwealth.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate partner training initiatives and consumer education classes and programs.
  • Staff Virginia Housing exhibit tables at events and give public talks.
  • Deliver in-person and virtual classes and coordinate registrations.
  • Develop, update, and create curriculum and content.
  • Manage projects and oversee program activities.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners such as nonprofits and government bodies.
  • Travel up to 20% with possible overnight and weekend travel.
  • Ensure high-quality presentations and instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve programs and processes.
