Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Associate Data Scientist for the Alternative Data Strategy team in a hybrid role. You will evaluate data sources, engineer features, and build scalable models across large datasets to improve credit decisioning and vendor integrations.

You will work with Python/Scala/R and cloud technologies on a cross-functional team to deliver business value, while adhering to risk governance and governance of data usage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field plus 2 years of data analytics experience.
• Master's degree in a quantitative field or an MBA with a quantitative concentration.
• Master’s Degree in STEM or PhD in STEM is preferred.
• Experience working with AWS.
• At least 2 years’ experience in Python, Scala, or R.
• At least 2 years’ experience with machine learning.
• At least 2 years’ experience with SQL.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love.
• Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more — to reveal insights from large data volumes.
• Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design to deployment.
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals and outcomes.
