Job summary

Equitable is seeking a Counsel, Wealth Management & Advisor Growth to act as the lead legal advisor for strategic growth initiatives in the Wealth Management division. You will partner with senior leaders on advisor recruitment transactions, acquisitions of books of business, and related onboarding matters.

This role requires JD, 5+ years in relevant practice areas, and a track record of delivering practical, business-focused legal solutions in a high-growth environment.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• 5 years of legal experience supporting wealth management firms, broker-dealers, RIAs, or advisory platforms.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and deal-structuring expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead as the primary legal partner for recruitment and onboarding of experienced financial professionals and acquisition of books of business.
• Draft and negotiate complex transactional agreements (APAs, ARs, loans, notes, recruiting agreements).
• Advise on restrictive covenants including non-solicitation and non-compete terms.
• Review candidate applications, hiring documents, and onboarding materials.
• Manage outside counsel and enforce debt recovery and related actions.
