Job summary

PTS Advance in Washington, DC seeks a Controls Engineer I to join its controls team. This hands-on role develops, programs, tests, and supports industrial control systems across customer sites and our facility in Hanover, MD.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of hands-on controls experience, PLC and HMI programming, and strong problem-solving skills. Travel is extensive in the DMV region, with 60-75% early on, reducing over time.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on controls, automation, or industrial programming experience.
• Hands-on experience developing PLC programs from scratch.
• Experience programming and configuring HMI systems.
• Knowledge of Modbus and Ethernet-based networks.

Responsibilities

• Develop, program, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI-based control systems.
• Write and modify PLC programs based on project requirements.
• Support controls projects through full lifecycle including FAT, commissioning, and startup.
• Interpret electrical drawings and technical requirements.
• Configure and integrate controls with third-party equipment and customer systems.
• Travel to facilities and customer sites as required.
